Position: Shipping supervisor
Work Location: Dar es salaam

Key Responsibilities:

1. Container and Truck Coordination:

• Monitor and follow up on truck pick-up and return of containers, ensuring timely transportation.
• Allocate empty containers efficiently to prevent cargo shortages, damage, or demurrage fees.

1. Yard Management and Shipping Coordination:

• Oversee yard operations, manage booking of shipping space, and verify associated costs with shipping companies.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with shipping lines and mitigate the risk of account freezes.

1. Terminal and Customs Coordination:

• Follow up on terminal release and customs clearance processes to ensure smooth and timely container loading without delays.

1. Cost Control and Documentation:

• Monitor the full ocean freight cost chain, ensuring accurate documentation and fee files.
• Archive records promptly and maintain zero errors in cost reporting.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Transport and Logistic, Procurement, Tax management or related field
• Minimum 3 years and above of experience in ocean freight export operations.
• Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts) with the ability to independently process order data, create KPI reports, and conduct business reviews.
• Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify risk points in timeliness, cost, and expenses, and propose optimization measures.
• Comprehensive understanding of ocean freight operations, including timeliness control, cost verification, and maintaining records of no abnormal costs or cargo damage.
